Mike Laverick's RTFM Education
About this site:
As you may know RTFM stands for “Read The Flippin’ Manual” - a frequent cry when we discover that problems documented, and solutions are well known - and IF we had only read the instructions first…
However, sometimes the manual isn’t enough - that’s where I come in. When I became a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) and Citrix Certified Instructor (CCI) and then a VMware Certified Instructor (VCI) the people at Microsoft, Citrix and VMware taught us to “add-value” to what we do.
It’s not enough to simply read the manual (after all you can all read), my job is to make the courseware come to life. It’s that ethic that RTFM website holds as its core value.
On the flip side of that coin, its also true to say that frequently reading the flippin’ manual doesn’t help. Documentation can be poor, conflicting or plain wrong - plus it can limit your scope. So RTFM is about knowing when to break the rules, and bend the conventions - and go beyond the manual…

The VMguy - Dave Lawrence
I am an IT professional with 15 years of experience in the technology industry. I am currently employed as a SeniorTechnical Architect at RoundTower Technologies in Southern Florida. Prior to joining VMware, I have previously held engineering positions at VMware, EMC and Network Appliance. My roles entailed assisting customers with designing the best solution for the application need. Before entering the vendor world, I spent 7 years as a Windows, Virtualization and Storage Administrator at Limited Brands (Victoria’s Secret, Bath and Body Works, etc). My first virtualization project was a 120 server consolidation onto 8 hosts using VMware in 2001. One that was wildly successful.
I have thought about blogging for a long time. There were many ideas and directions that I had considered for topics. What I thought was most appropriate was a collection of answers to the most common questions. My goal is to create a repository of ideas and tips from compiling all of the questions I receive from customers every day.
If there’s a question you would like to see a post on, send it over. I’ll do my best to answer as timely as possible.
Thanks and Enjoy,
Dave Lawrence

Yellow Bricks - Duncan Epping
Yellow Bricks is a personal Blog about virtualization(mostly VMware related) maintained by Duncan Epping. The name is derived from an Arctic Monkeys song, Old Yellow Bricks. Yellow Bricks are solid but flexible at the same time because you can build anything you want. Same goes for virtualization, it provides you with a firm foundation with gaining flexibility at the same time. Yellow Bricks, building blocks for virtualization.

White boxes and home labs - Community Podcast #79
We haven't posted a post with podcast notes in quite a while, but we're still going strong. If you aren't familiar with our curious tradition, every Wednesday at noon California time a gang of motley VMware admins, gurus, newbies, troublemakers, jokers, kibitzers, and seekers of knowledge gather around a virtual campfire and record a podcast. All are welcome, and a good time is had by all. You can listen to the podcast via the widget on the right, the mp3, or via iTunes. If you ask those in the know, however, they'll tell you that showing up live is much more fun, because the chat is usually going strong before, during, and after the show. We get about 30-50 people live every week, and if you dial in (via POTS or VOIP) you can ask a question or give a comment at any time, because we try to keep everybody unmuted. It's the closest thing you'll get to a VMUG or VMworld without leaving your desk. Follow @jtroyer on Twitter to catch the topic earlier in the week.
